Charlotte County Big Band Series 'The Year That Was...' Music
7:00 PM - 8:30 PM Apr 21, 2014
Much was going on in the world during the start of the Big Band/Swing Era:
In 1938, Hitler marched into Austria; Britain, France and Italy agreed to partition Czechoslovakia; Orson Welles created a nationwide panic with the radio broadcast WAR OF THE WORLDS; and Duke Ellington's album 'Braggin' in Brass' was released.
The Charlotte County Big Band features 5 saxes, 4 trumpets, 4 trombones, piano, bass, drums, guitar, and singers.
Each month, the band revisits a different year - historic events and music of the times will be explored on stage!
